Artist Statement

The power of mother nature is great. It takes a long time to cut the earth and create formative beauty. It takes a long time so daunting. A little bit by little. But it sometimes breaks in a moment and creates a new surface. And new beauty is born again. We can not see the same expression again.

I think it resembles a big city “TOKYO” I live in.

A large city, surrounded by large buildings, where many people live, always looks like the same expression and changes every day. It looks like it’s changing a bit and slightly. But sometimes a big earthquake comes and destroys everything. And over time, a new everyday begins.

Our urban life seems like a man-made, non-natural act that is far from natural.
No. All our actions are natural. It’s not far from nature. All is the great nature that God created.
I feel that way from such natural beauty.

母なる自然の力は偉大だ。長い時間をかけ大地を削り、美しい造形美を創造する。
少しずつ、気の遠くなるような時間をかけるかと思えば、時として一瞬にして壊し、新たな表層を作り出す。そしてまた新しい美が生まれる。二度と同じ表情を見ることはできない。
それは私の暮らす東京という大都会に似ていると私は思う。
大きな建造物に囲まれ、多くの人々が暮らす大都会は、いつも同じ表情のように見えて毎日変化している。少しずつ変わっているように見えて、大きな地震が来て全てを壊してしまうこともある。そして時間をかけてまた新しい日常が始まる。
私たちの都会での生活は自然とはかけ離れたマンメイドで非自然的な行いのように思える。しかし私たちの全ての行いが自然なのである。すべては神が創りたもうた偉大なる自然なのである。
私はこのような自然の造形美からそのように感じている。
