Last weekend, I went to Choshi and Sawara in Chiba Prefecture.
It was a photography trip with “CLUB LIGHT PARTY”, the photo club for which I serve as director.

I came across many nice subjects in each location.

In Sawara city, preparations are underway for the “Grand Festival of Sawara” next weekend, and we were able to see many floats being prepared. The Grand Festival of Sawara is one of the three major float festivals in the Kanto region, and is a traditional festival that has been held for 300 years.
Floats are special pushcarts decorated with gorgeous pole carvings and topped with about 4-meter-tall dolls and figures made by master craftsmen from the Edo and Meiji periods.

Although it’s difficult to get close to the floats during the festival, we had the wonderful experience of seeing them up
close and taking photos.

If you are in Japan next weekend, it would be a good memory for foreigners to see it. The period is October 11 to 13, 2024.
